LONDON:

The chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has said that his party is a “peaceful and democratic party and it believes in (waging a) peaceful struggle”.

Speaking to members of the MQM’s coordination committee on Wednesday, he said that his party had “no place for criminals as it is against all kind of violence, terrorism, corruption and criminal activities”.

“This is why, any of the party worker found to be involved in any kind of criminal activity were expelled from the party,” he said.

He said the MQM, being part of the society, contained “good as well as bad elements”,  but the movement was the “only party which has expelled criminal elements from its ranks”.

Thus, he said, the party cannot be held responsible for the personal acts of individuals.

He said that his party “is known for its discipline”.
