Former England captain and commentator Kevin Pietersen has made his bold predictions for the upcoming Champions Trophy, forecasting the top four teams while notably leaving out two of the most formidable sides in world cricket.

In a recent interview, Pietersen expressed his belief that Pakistan and their traditional rivals, India, are the favorites to secure spots in the semifinals.

While many would expect the top cricketing nations to dominate, Pietersen made a surprising prediction by leaving out powerhouses England and Australia from his top four.

He explained that Australia's recent losses, due to the absence of key players such as Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and captain Pat Cummins, have left them vulnerable. Meanwhile, England's recent defeats could serve as a significant cause for concern as they head into the tournament.

Pietersen further suggested that alongside Pakistan and India, South Africa and New Zealand could be strong contenders for a semifinal berth. These teams, he believes, have the potential to make a deep run in the competition.

The Champions Trophy will kick off on February 19, with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The tournament's final is scheduled for March 9 as one of the most highly anticipated encounters will be the India-Pakistan clash, scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
