Man wanted in robbery case, accomplice open fire on raiding team

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was martyred by suspected robbers during a police encounter in the Baloch Wala area.

The city police officer (CPO) and other officials took possession of the body, transported it to the Allied Hospital for autopsy and formed teams to apprehend the killers. The CPO also sought a detailed report on the incident.

According to the police, ASI Ubaidullah from Roshanwala police station, Havaldar Irfan Qaiser and Muhammad Afzal, and Constables Mazhar Shehzad, Shakeel Anjum, Ali Raza and Shabbir Ahmed conducted a raid at the residence of Ilyas, a resident of Baloch Wala.

The suspect was wanted in cases of robbery.

On spotting the police, the suspect and his accomplices opened indiscriminate fire at them.

ASI Ubaidullah was struck by multiple bullets in his face and other parts of body, leading to his martyrdom on the spot.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Faisalabad CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar, SSP Investigation Rana Abdul Wahab, Iqbal Town SP Abid Zafar and Factory Area DSP Rana Attaur Rehman arrived at the scene. Officials said the suspect, Ilyas, was wanted by Roshanwala police in at least 21 cases of robbery and banditry.
