In a move to tackle organised crime, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD), police sources revealed.
The CCD headquarters will be set up at Lahore's Qurban Lines and will house 4,000 officers and personnel specialising in crime-fighting.
Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sohail Zafar Chattha has been appointed as the department's head. According to officials, the CCD will have the authority to investigate cases, submit challans in courts, and conduct operations across the province. The legal framework for CCD has been finalised, and its structure is being developed.
