ISLAMABAD:

Following the directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) completed all the necessary groundwork on Tuesday for the construction of a major road connecting the Prime Minister's House to the 'Margalla Enclave' housing project, a distance of approximately five minutes.

The final approval will be given after CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefs the Interior Minister.

CDA sources informed The Express Tribune that after receiving clear instructions from the Interior Minister, the CDA Chairman instructed the Member of Planning and Design to immediately complete the groundwork and submit the report. On Tuesday, the Chairman was informed that ample land is available for the construction of an 8-10 kilometre road from the back of the Prime Minister's House to the Margalla Enclave project. The CDA master plan also has the necessary provisions for this development.

According to the Interior Minister's instructions, the proposed road will be constructed from behind the Prime Minister's House, passing through Bhara Kahu bypass and Third Road, providing direct access to Margalla Enclave. Once completed, travel time between the Prime Minister's House and Margalla Enclave will be reduced to just five minutes. This main road will not only serve the residents of Margalla Enclave but will also provide travel convenience to around 250,000 people living in more than half a dozen small and large neighbouring towns and areas.

Sources also shared that a special CDA team completed an initial survey of the identified land on Tuesday and submitted the report to the Chairman. Following this, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa will brief the Interior Minister, after which the final approval will be granted and funds will be allocated for the project.
