Taylor Swift faced an unexpected reaction at Super Bowl LIX when fans in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans booed her during the Super Bowl
The 35-year-old pop icon, attending the game to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, appeared visibly confused when the stadium erupted into boos after her image was displayed on the Jumbotron.
Swift, who was seated alongside rapper Ice Spice, the Haim sisters, Ashley Avignone, and her family, could be seen turning to Ice Spice and asking, “What’s going on?” The moment quickly went viral, with ESPN’s SportsCenter posting a clip captioned, “Taylor Swift laughed off being booed at the Super Bowl.”
While the crowd cheered for actors Adam Sandler and Paul Rudd, as well as former President Donald Trump—who received a mix of cheers and boos—Swift’s reception stirred debate online.
Several stars and athletes quickly came to her defense. Tennis legend Serena Williams took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I love you @taylorswift13. Don’t listen to those booos!!” She later shared Instagram Stories of her enjoying Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show.

Reality TV personalities also weighed in. Big Brother alum Taylor Hale criticized the reaction, tweeting, “Predominantly male audience boos a woman beloved by many women. Men are such losers for this.”
Bachelor star Kelsey Anderson, attending the game, shared her shock on TikTok, writing, “Y’all … people just booed Taylor Swift,” assuring fans she wasn’t among them.
Despite the reaction, Swift remained composed, continuing to enjoy the game and support Kelce’s bid for a historic three-peat NFL championship.
