The Qaumi Awami Tehreek's President Ayaz Latif Palijo has warned the federal government against robbing Sindh, which he said has given the sea port, oil and gas to the center, of its due share of water. Palijo on Sunday led a rally, which started from Naukot and concluded in Mirpurkhas district, against the construction of new canals on the Indus River.
He contended that in the light of the WAPDA Chairman's statement it has now become evident that Pakistan Peoples Party's leadership gave its nod to the construction of the new canals. He reiterated that the PPP has traded off Sindh's resources to get power.
"Sindh will become a barren land if Cholistan and other five canals are built," he warned. Sindh is asking a question from the rulers to explain why the province is being turned into a desert. He pointed out that water shortage already exists in many districts of Sindh while the sea is eating up the coastal lands in Thatta, Sujawal and Badin districts.
