MULTAN:

Efforts to enhance the city's infrastructure, development and beautification are gaining momentum, with major plans in place to upgrade the decades-old sewerage system and repair damaged roads.

Various departments have been directed to submit development proposals, which will be forwarded to the Punjab government for approval.

Commissioner Multan Amir Karim Khan revealed these initiatives during a meeting, emphasising that steps were being taken to improve the city's overall condition.

Proposals have been requested from the Highway Department, Multan Development Authority, and Municipal Corporation to revamp the city's infrastructure.

This includes the replacement of a 20-year-old, deteriorating sewerage system managed by WASA, which will benefit hundreds of thousands of residents.

The first phase will prioritize urgent development projects, with funding to be sought accordingly.

Given the scale of work required, billions of rupees will be needed to rehabilitate the sewerage system and repair roads.

The improvements will be carried out in a phased and transparent manner.

Commissioner Amir Karim Khan also highlighted an ongoing anti-encroachment campaign, aiming to transform Multan into a cleaner and more organized city.

Reflecting on his previous tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Multan, Amir Karim Khan pointed out several beautification projects he initiated, including the development of MDA Chowk, SP Chowk, Bosan Road Bypass Chowk, and Sahu Chowk.
