LAHORE: Justice Abdus Sattar Asghar on Wednesday directed the Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent to shift one of the suspects arrested in the kidney transplant scandal to Shaikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment. The hearing of Abdullahi Hallane’s bail plea was adjourned till September 16. Services Hospital medical superintendent earlier told the court that his hospital lacked the facilities needed to treat the suspect. Hallane and a group of people including some doctors had been arrested by North Cantonment police from a clinic in Ameeruddin Park on July 7. Police said an illegal kidney transplant business had been going at the clinic since December 2010. Hallane told the police that he had agreed to pay $30,000 for the transplant surgery.
