Bryan Johnson, the American entrepreneur known for his groundbreaking anti-ageing research, abruptly ended his appearance on a podcast in India after suffering adverse reactions to the city's air pollution.
Johnson, the CEO of Kernel Holding SA and the mastermind behind Project Blueprint, revealed on social media that he experienced skin rashes and burning sensations in his eyes and throat, which he attributed to the hazardous air quality.
"When in India, I did end this podcast early due to the bad air quality. @nikhilkamathcio was a gracious host and we were having a great time. The problem was that the room we were in circulated outside air which made the air purifier I'd brought with me ineffective," Johnson posted on February 3, 2025.

The air quality in the studio became particularly problematic, with Johnson noting that the room's ventilation system pulled in outside air, rendering his personal air purifier useless.
He shared that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the room had reached 130, with PM2.5 levels at 75 µg/m³. To put this into perspective, this level of pollution is equivalent to smoking about 3.4 cigarettes over a 24-hour period.
Despite his discomfort, Johnson expressed a deeper concern about the wider issue of air pollution in India. He observed locals going about their daily activities without any protective measures, despite the clear health risks posed by such toxic air.
Johnson also stressed the importance of improving air quality, suggesting that doing so could have a more significant impact on public health than curing all types of cancer.
"I've had a number of experiences over the years in various parts of the world with pollution, but what really struck me here was the normalization of it. People just go about their day-to-day activities without thinking twice," Johnson said in his tweet.
Known for his longevity-focused approach to life, Johnson leads Project Blueprint, an experiment aimed at reversing biological aging. The project involves a meticulously controlled routine including diet, sleep, exercise, and medical interventions to rejuvenate the body at the cellular level.
Johnson’s research on longevity and anti-ageing has garnered widespread attention, as he strives to push the boundaries of human health and lifespan.
