Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday held a meeting with a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) bus manufacturer in Beijing, inviting the company to establish an EV bus manufacturing plant in Karachi.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who assured full support from the Sindh government for promoting green energy and electric mobility in the province.
Minister Memon emphasised that the Sindh government would provide incentives to investors, including tax exemptions, land availability, and simplifying the regulatory approval process.
"We are committed to modernising public transport and reducing carbon emissions," he added.
He stated that establishing an EV bus plant in Karachi would create job opportunities and accelerate the shift towards an efficient and cleaner transportation system.
The Chinese company representatives expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities in Karachi and welcomed Minister Memon's invitation.
A feasibility study will soon be conducted to assess the economic and technical viability of the project, with the Chinese investors expressing their assurance of cooperation.
