Marvel has denied claims that artificial intelligence was used to create a newly released poster for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, despite speculation circulating on social media.

The Disney-owned studio revealed the First Steps poster alongside the film’s first teaser early Tuesday. The artwork depicts a crowd of people from the 20th century waving, seemingly at the Fantastic Four as they embark on a mission.

While many fans welcomed the release, some quickly noticed inconsistencies in the design, such as individuals appearing with only four fingers and two women sharing identical facial features. This sparked assumptions that AI had been involved in generating the image. However, a Marvel spokesperson told *The Hollywood Reporter* that this was not the case.

The controversy follows recent criticism surrounding the Oscar-nominated film The Brutalist, which faced accusations that AI had been used to refine its dialogue. Director Brady Corbet refuted these claims, explaining that lead actors Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones worked extensively with a dialect coach to perfect their Hungarian accents. He clarified that only the Hungarian-language portions of the film were manually adjusted using Respeecher technology.

“The aim was to preserve the authenticity of Adrien and Felicity’s performances in another language, not to replace or alter them and done with the utmost respect for the craft,” Corbet said.

Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps features Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is set to premiere in July.
