Information Technology (IT) experts on an official board have declared smart watches, fitness trackers and other wearable smart devices as a cybersecurity threat and recommended to the government to ban such items at sensitive places.
The National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board has sent an advisory to the Cabinet Division, warning that wearable smart devices are a security risk, as these devices have been used in disclosing confidential information.
The use of these devices at sensitive places can lead to cyberattacks, data leaks and tracking, the advisory has said.
