Women broker truce between factions

Authorities launch investigation, intensify patrolling following tribal feud

In Tuman Khosa, a centuries-old tradition was revived as tribal women played a pivotal role in ending the firing and standoff between warring factions.

Carrying the Holy Quran, the women persuaded both sides to withdraw from their positions.

The respect for women in tribal society remains a cornerstone of Baloch tradition.

Following the alleged 'honour' killing of Hanif Jandani, intense gunfire echoed through the mountains of Tuman Khosa as both sides engaged in indiscriminate shooting, resulting in the deaths of five individuals.

Neighbours played a role in mediating a ceasefire.

Men and women from the Khosa and Buzdar tribes arrived at the scene, holding copies of the Holy Quran, to prevent further bloodshed.

In line with ancient Baloch traditions, the presence of women at the forefront of ceasefire efforts led to an immediate halt in firing and the warring parties silently withdrew from their positions.

As per the local elders, the Halati community, adhering to centuries-old tribal customs, played a significant role in ending the conflict.

Earlier, The first case of 2025 has been registered in the tribal area of Tuman Khosa, Koh Suleman, following the murder of five individuals. The case was filed by the father of the deceased, Hanif Jandani, Ramadan, against five suspects, including four named individuals. Additionally, a request has been submitted to register a case at Kachhoba Police Station regarding the deaths of two notorious bandits, Hayat Khan and Aziz Jandani.

Throughout the day, Border Military Police (BMP) conducted patrols in the area. After completing the postmortem procedures, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their heirs. Funeral prayers were held for all the victims, and they were laid to rest in local and ancestral graveyards.

Rashid, alias Karchu, a member of the Ladi Gang and brother of Hanif Jandani, who was killed in an honour-related incident, has also been allegedly injured. Among the deceased are two bandits of the Ladi Gang: Ramadan and Roshan, alias Roshni Makol.

SHO Younis Khosa said postmortems have been completed, and the bodies were handed over to the heirs.
