The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has devised a plan to create three separate teams of Pakistan Shaheens for practice matches ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The decision aims to provide the guest teams participating in the mega event with ample practice opportunities before the tournament begins.

According to sources, these Shaheens teams will play against the teams participating in the Champions Trophy, allowing domestic players the chance to compete alongside international cricketers. It will also give the visiting teams the chance to practice before the tournament kicks off.

As per the plan, one Shaheens team will play practice matches in Karachi, another in Lahore, and the third will be based in Dubai.

Additionally, New Zealand and South Africa, both participating in the Champions Trophy, will have the chance to practice against Pakistan during the upcoming tri-nation series, which begins on February 8 with a match between Pakistan and New Zealand.

Before the start of the Champions Trophy, PCB has finalised the schedule for the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, setting the stage for a grand and spectacular launch of the tournament.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on February 19, will reportedly start with the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium is set for February 7, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected to attend as the chief guest.

On February 11, the National Stadium in Karachi will host its opening ceremony, with President Asif Ali Zardari slated to be the guest of honour.

The official opening ceremony for the Champions Trophy will take place on February 16 in Lahore at Hazoori Bagh, followed by a brief ceremony at the venue.
