Kendrick Lamar dominated the 67th Grammy Awards, sweeping Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his viral diss track Not Like Us. Leading the night with seven nominations, he also took home Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, and Best Rap Performance, all for the same track.
While Lamar’s Grammy success was a major highlight, his fashion choice stole the spotlight. He accepted his awards in a denim-on-denim Canadian tuxedo, an outfit many saw as a direct shot at Drake, the Toronto-born rapper who was the target of Not Like Us. Paired with a matching baseball cap, the look instantly sparked speculation that Lamar was making a calculated statement.
During his Record of the Year acceptance speech, Lamar shifted focus to Los Angeles, his hometown, which has recently suffered from devastating wildfires. "This is the neck of the woods that held me down… since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps," he said, expressing gratitude to the communities of Palisades and Altadena, where he spent much of his early career.
With these latest wins, Lamar’s Grammy total rises to 22, adding to previous awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. His Grammy sweep caps off a monumental year, which included the surprise release of GNX in November 2024. The album produced multiple Billboard Hot 100 hits, including his third No. 1 single of the year, Squabble Up.
Now, Lamar is preparing for Super Bowl LIX’s halftime show, where fans speculate he might take another high-profile jab at Drake. He will then kick off the Grand National Tour with SZA in April, further solidifying his dominance in hip-hop.
