A Mexican social media influencer passed away due to complications from liposuction surgery conducted at an unlicensed clinic, according to reports.
Denisse Reyes, 27, underwent the cosmetic procedure at San Pablo Medical Clinic in Chiapas, located in southern Mexico, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Before the procedure, Dr. Orlando Gamboa administered an intravenous medication to Reyes, which reportedly caused an adverse reaction that ultimately led to her death.
“She starts to feel sick and goes into cardiac arrest and at that moment they take her out of the room where she was in the [clinic],” Ammao Rodriguez, Reyes’ uncle, told the outlet.
Following the emergency, Reyes was transported to Manzur Hospital, where she passed away on Wednesday.
Her uncle stated that Reyes, a mother to an eight-year-old son, had no prior health issues before the procedure.
Ammao also mentioned that he is coordinating with Chiapas health officials and intends to pursue legal action against Dr. Gamboa.
“May the authorities do justice to Denisse and may the doctor pay in some way for what he did,” Rodriguez told the *Daily Mail*.
Dr. Gamboa had previously made headlines in December 2024 when he was accused of being responsible for another patient’s death following liposuction, as reported by the *Daily Mail*.
Despite the allegations, the doctor has denied any involvement in Reyes’ surgery, according to the outlet.
Reyes’ family and fans, who had followed her rise to social media fame since 2022, expressed their grief online.
“You were a woman who always did what she wanted and went 1000% in her life, too free, spontaneous, extroverted, that was you,” Reyes’ sister, Massiel Reyes, said in a Facebook post, according to the outlet.
“Sister, I love you with all my heart, what is happening hurts my soul, I would like to turn back time but it no longer exists,” the heartbroken sister added.
