A rickshaw driver fled with a family's dowry items in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, leaving the victims distressed weeks before a wedding.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on social media, prompting calls for police action.
According to the affected family, the incident took place when they hired a rickshaw from a market in Liaquatabad to transport household items to Orangi Town.
The stolen goods included utensils and other dowry essentials purchased for an upcoming wedding.
Bilal, the victim’s brother, told police that his mother and aunt were accompanying the dowry items.
"We had agreed on a fare with the rickshaw driver, loaded the items inside and tied some on the roof. But as we reached Nazimabad Number 4, he forced them to get off and sped away with everything," he said.
CCTV footage shows the suspect, dressed in a brown shalwar kameez, attempting to evade security cameras, raising suspicions that he had planned the theft in advance.
The family has appealed to authorities to take swift action and recover the stolen dowry items before the wedding later this month.
Police have launched an investigation but have not made any arrests so far.
