Bianca Censori might face jail time for risqué Grammys look under California’s indecent exposure law

On Sunday, February 2, Kanye West made an appearance on the red carpet at the 67th Grammy Awards alongside his wife, Bianca Censori.  

Censori, initially covered in a black fluffy coat, dramatically removed it on the red carpet to reveal an extremely sheer, form-fitting mesh dress, which has sparked legal concerns, according to Mirror US.  

The media outlet referenced California Penal Code 314(1), which defines indecent exposure as "when a person exposes his or her naked body or genitals in front of anyone who could be annoyed or offended by it." The law also clarifies that exposure is considered a crime only if it is "willful and lewd."  

To be convicted of indecent exposure, a person must "intentionally expose their genitals or naked body, do so in front of someone who might be offended or annoyed, intend to draw attention to themselves, and have the intent to either sexually gratify themselves or offend another person."  

Mirror US suggested that Bianca Censori's revealing outfit might fall under this legal definition.  

If found guilty of indecent exposure in California, the penalty could include a misdemeanor charge, up to six months in county jail, and/or a fine of up to $1,000. A second offense, however, is treated as a felony, which could result in a state prison sentence and mandatory registration as a sex offender for at least 10 years.  

Meanwhile, Kanye West kept his look simple, wearing an all-black outfit consisting of a t-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and black sunglasses.  

In a video clip, as the Gold Digger rapper posed for photos with his wife, reporters could be heard encouraging Bianca to show off her outfit.  

As she turned her back to the cameras and dropped her coat, her sheer attire was met with audible surprise.  

She then turned to face the cameras and continued posing alongside Kanye West. After a few moments, the Violent Crimes rapper stepped aside, allowing his wife to be photographed alone while he watched from a distance.
