Bahria Town Chairman Mailk Riaz has received a threatening e-mail, demanding an extortion of 50 Bit coins, equaling to Rs1.42 billion.
According to details, the Bahria Town chairman received the e-mail on January 12, containing death threats for him and his family if he fails to pay 50 Bit coins valuing around Rs1.42 billion.
Bahria Town Vice Chief Executive Khalilur Rehman submitted a request at Abpara Police Station to lodge a case. He informed the police that Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz received e-mail, demanding Rs50 Bit coins as extortion.
The sender threatened to kill Malik Riaz and his family if the amount was not paid.
Following the e-mail, a suspected individual was seen on a motorcycle outside the residence of Malik Riaz's daughter on January 27 at 11:15 am. Malik Riaz also lives in the same house.
The suspected person kept doing recce and clicking pictures of the house. The incident stoked fear and tension. The e-mail ID of the sender apparently showed that it was sent from Switzerland but the unfolding events indicated that it was actually sent from Pakistan. However, the facts will come to fore after the investigation.
The application stated that Malik Riaz and his family were facing death threats, thus a case be lodged and action be taken.
