Former anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan has announced his relocation abroad after leaving Pakistan, a decision he revealed through a post on his X account on Friday.
Khan, whose name has frequently appeared on the Exit Control List (ECL), which restricts individuals from leaving the country, was also detained at the airport last July while attempting to travel for Hajj.
For the past month, Khan had been absent from the public eye. However, he continued to upload regular vlogs on his YouTube channel, though his videos did not reveal any background details, leaving his exact location unclear.
In his post on Friday, he confirmed his move abroad but did not specify how or to which country he had relocated. However, Pakistani journalist Moeed Pirzada, based overseas, provided some clarity in a post on X, congratulating Khan for safely reaching the United Kingdom.
Pirzada wrote, "Imran and his family faced immense difficulties under Pakistan's fascist system, but finally, they now have the opportunity to speak openly against the Pakistani state."
On January 31, Khan shared a photo of himself on his official X account, expressing the difference between "returning through a special plane after a deal with stolen goods" and "migrating while standing firm on one's beliefs and risking one’s life."
He continued, "I am proud that my Lord has granted me the perseverance to stand against every form of oppression. I endured brutal violence and terrifying imprisonment. I was arrested ten times, faced numerous legal cases, and was even forcibly prevented from performing Hajj, but my Lord granted me patience." In his post, Khan also promised to return to Pakistan soon.
