UNITED NATIONS:

Pakistan has called on Sudan's warring parties to re-engage in negotiations to end a conflict that has lasted over 21 months, emphasizing that the suffering of the Sudanese people must come to an end.

"We urge both sides to implement the commitments made under the Jeddah Declaration on the protection of civilians and the facilitation of humanitarian efforts to meet the urgent needs of the Sudanese population," said Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in his speech to the UN Security Council.
