Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly planning significant changes within both the party and the provincial government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), following the appointment of the new provincial president, Junaid Akbar.

According to Express News, sources have indicated that a wave of transformations is likely to sweep through the region, with several key decisions expected in the coming weeks.

PTI workers have been instructed to focus on preparations for a key event on February 8, which could serve as a precursor to further changes within the party structure.

Junaid Akbar, who recently took over as provincial president, has also reportedly made telephone calls to several senior party leaders to discuss the upcoming shifts in leadership.

Sources within PTI revealed that the party has decided to entrust key leadership responsibilities to party stalwarts who have made significant sacrifices, especially after the events of May 9, 2023.

Many of these leaders, who were instrumental in the party's rise, had been sidelined and pushed into the background but are now expected to play an active role in the party's future.

In addition to changes at the leadership level, sources suggest that a reshuffle in the provincial cabinet is imminent, with several ministers likely to have their portfolios altered.

The decision to bring in fresh faces and new leadership is seen as an attempt to revitalise the party's administration and ensure effective governance.

Furthermore, PTI sources have indicated that a report related to the governance committee's assessment of ministers will soon be handed over to Junaid Akbar, further suggesting that the party is moving forward with significant structural reforms to strengthen its position in the province.
