A wedding celebration in Abdullahpur turned tragic when a brawl over children collecting thrown money led to the death of a 64-year-old man. The police have taken two suspects into custody and initiated legal proceedings.
A wedding procession from Sahiwal arrived at the Al-Fajr Marriage Hall in Street 15, Abdullahpur, under the jurisdiction of Mansoorabad police station. As part of the groom's entry, money was thrown by the wedding guests, attracting local children who started collecting the notes. This angered the guests, who allegedly assaulted the children.
The children, in tears, returned home and narrated the incident to their families. The parents of the children went to the marriage hall to complain, which escalated into a heated altercation with the wedding guests from Sahiwal.
During the clash, the wedding guests reportedly attacked 64-year-old Jabbar Hussain, son of Ashraf, using glasses, jugs, and utensils from the hall.
Jabbar sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Civil Hospital before being transferred to Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police officers arrived at the scene following the incident and took possession of the body.
Two suspects were detained for questioning.
Sub-Inspector Suleman Sharif, the Investigation Officer from Mansoorabad Police Station, stated that legal action is being taken against five individuals, including suspects Mazhar and Abdul Razzaq. Preliminary investigations suggest that the dispute began when the children were assaulted for collecting money.
