Ministry seeks school teaching interns

Interns will fil lin for shortage of teachers in public schools.

The Ministry of Education has announced the start of the approval process for the recruitment of 12,500 daily wage school teacher interns (STI) to meet the shortage of teachers in government schools.

The lump sum salary of primary school teacher interns will be Rs38,000 monthly, middle school teacher interns' salary will be Rs40,000 and high school teacher interns' salary will be about Rs45,000 per month.

These teachers will perform their teaching duties till May 31. They will be discharged at the start of summer vacation on June 1. Any leave taken will lead to salary deductions. A committee consisting of Headmaster, AEO and School Council members will conduct the recruitment, for which applications will be accepted through an online portal. The merit list will also be published online.

The age limit for the job will be 21 to 45 years. Candidates must have BS, MSc, MA degree in the relevant subjects and prior teaching experience will be preferred. Applicants will have to apply in their own Union Council limits. If local area candidates are not available, then candidates from the nearest Union Council will be given preference. The school principal will assess the need for the services of a School Teacher Intern (STI), candidates will have to apply online, and their educational documents will be verified.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The list of successful candidates will be displayed on the portal and school notice board. Anyone found to have submitted fake documents will be disqualified. Candidates have to follow school discipline. Misconduct, absenteeism or any cheating may result in termination of services. The performance of selected candidates will be monitored, and their attendance will also be checked. The internship contract will be non-transferable, the focus must be on student education. Discussion on politics and religion, and making social media comments will be prohibited.
