Okara girl allegedly gang-raped
Police claimed to have arrested two suspects accused of gang-raping a young woman under the pretence of offering her a job.
The incident occurred near the Renala Khurd Bypass, and the victim has been sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat has confirmed that a case was registered at the City Renala Khurd police station following a complaint filed by the victim's sister, a resident of Deepalpur.
As per the complainant, the accused lured the victim with a job opportunity in Renala Khurd.
The victim's sister alleged that Umair and Furqan took her sister to a house where they reportedly raped her.
The victim stated that both suspects were intoxicated at the time. She managed to escape and alerted the authorities by phone.
Local police, led by SHO Malik Arshad, acted swiftly, arresting the suspects and registering the case. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation under the supervision of female police officers.
DPO Rashid Hidayat emphasised that the investigation is being conducted meticulously, with the medical and DNA reports expected to uncover the facts. He assured that if the allegations are proven, the suspects will face severe punishment under the law.
DPO Hidayat reiterated the commitment to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's "Never Again" campaign, highlighting the government's zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women. He stated, "The safety and dignity of women are paramount, and such heinous acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances."
