Ex-champion Ahsan stunned by Shahid

49th NBP National Snooker Championship in full swing

Former world champion Ahsan Ramzan was upset by Shahid Shafiq of Punjab while four century breaks were scored on the second day of the of the 49th NBP National Snooker Championship, being held at the Snooker Arena of the National Bank Sports Complex.

Shahid Shafiq beat Ahsan with frame scores of 14-87, 59-14, 69-19, 06-137, 69-52 and 71-43. Ahsan Ramzan also played a break of 115 in the fourth frame, but he could not win the match.

Other century breakers on the day included Ian Mark John scored 113, Sohail Shahzad scored 113 and Muhammad Sajjad played brake of 102.

In other matches, Islamabad's Shan Naimat defeated Punjab's Zubair Tahir 4-1, Punjab's Shahid Aftab defeated Sindh's Umair Khan 4-0, Sindh's Ian Mark John defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Umair Sudagar 4-0, Punjab's Wasim Abbas defeated Balochistan's Muneeb Ali 4-0, Punjab's Babar Masih defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Suleman Khan 4-2, Balochistan's Adil Jabbar defeated Punjab's Ahsan Javed 4-1. National Bank's Muhammad Sajjad defeated Sindh's Omar Naeem 4-1, world snooker champion Muhammad Asif of NBP defeated Punjab's M Faheem 4-1, Punjab's Umair Haider defeated Balochistan's Zeb Khan 4-3, Sindh's Abdul Sattar defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Aamir Shahzad 4-3.

NBP's Asjad Iqbal defeated Punjab's Abdullah 4-3, Punjab's Owais Munir defeated Sindh's Umair Alam 4-1, Punjab's Naseem Akhtar defeated Sindh's Khizr Aziz 4-2, Sindh's Sohail Shahzad defeated Punjab's M Nazir 4-3 and Islamabad's Shan Naimat defeated Sindh's Ali Raza 4-1. Earlier, on Tuesday, junior Asian under-21 snooker champion Muhammad Hasnain upset number five seed Abdul Javed on the opening day of the 49th NBP National Snooker Championship while Owais Munir played century break.
