LAHORE:

A police inspector and in-charge of the Babu Sabu check post, was shot dead by his private employee during an altercation at his residence.

The accused, identified as Adeel, reportedly used the Inspector Saifullah Niazi's service pistol to carry out the shooting.

As per the initial investigations, the conflict began when Inspector Niazi reprimanded Adeel for arriving late to work.

The argument escalated, ultimately resulting in the fatal shooting.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran arrived at the scene soon after the incident to oversee the investigation.

Addressing the media, DIG Kamran said, "The accused has been apprehended and we are collecting all necessary evidence to ensure justice is served. This is a tragic loss for the Lahore Police, and we will stand by the family of the deceased."

During interrogation, Adeel confessed to the crime, alleging that the inspector's abusive behaviour had pushed him over the edge.

"He often insulted and demeaned us over trivial matters," Adeel claimed.

Inspector Saifullah was known for his strict demeanour and past reports suggest he had a history of contentious interactions with both subordinates and the public.

Investigators are examining whether this contributed to the tragic outcome.

DIG Kamran emphasised the Lahore Police's commitment to supporting the inspector's grieving family.
