Following Carrie Underwood's last minute A capella performance at Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday, social media netizens including Ariana Grande took to Instagram to troll the country singer by liking a post mocking her singing abilities.
The image that Grande pressed a like on included a snapshot of Underwood singing "America The Beautiful" while former Vice President Kamala Harris appeared in the frame, standing behind her with an unimpressed expression.
"Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (“Girl, find the note”) watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling Inauguration," internet personality, Evan Ross Katz wrote in the caption, referencing a quote from RuPaul's Drag Race.
The "Before He Cheats" singer faced technical difficulties ahead of her performance which was shifted indoors at the U.S. Capitol due to extremely low temperatures outside. Due to the technical faults, Underwood ultimately decided to perform A capella, asking the crowd to sing along.
The trolling comes on the heels of the backlash Underwood received when she was first announced as a performer at the ceremony. Despite it, the singer maintained her stance of peforming at the event merely out of pride for her country.
"I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event," she said previously, continuing that she was "humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future".
Underwood was among several other artists scheduled to perform at the inauguration festivities, including Village People, Billy Ray Cyrus and Rascal Flatt to name a few.
