On Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump was joined by his family and supporters at a victory rally in Washington D.C, a day before his inauguration. Taking part in the celebrations were multiple women associated with the incoming administration including second lady Usha Vance and Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump who were dressed by renowned fashion house Oscar de la Renta. The couturier has since come under fire for supporting the conservative republican party.
One of the events leading up to the inauguration included the Vice President's dinner which was organised by the Tump-Vance Inaugural Committee and hosted by J.D. Vance and his wife. It was revealed that the second lady, who made headlines for her stunning look in a custom black, strapless gown, was dressed by Oscar de la Renta. The label featured a photo of Vance on their Instagram page along with one of Ivanka Trump.
Trump's look involved orchid applique in a camel-coloured cashmere coat over a jewel-button detailed dress of the same tone. She was seen styling the clothes during her arrival into D.C as she stepped off of a private jet alongside her family.
Following the pictures, the social media pages of the fashion house were flooded with comments criticising the label for dressing the women of the Trump administration. Some of the comments added that the founder of the brand, Oscar de la Renta, who passed away in 2014 would never condone doing so as his stance on women's rights were directly opposed to those of Vance. Users also left critical comments under Ivanka Trump's picture questioning how her look honoured veterans as was claimed in the caption.
The members of the Trump family have been under the spotlight lately as the inauguration date closes in. Donald Trump takes office on Monday, January 20 as the 47th president of the US.
