Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh unveiled the teaser for his highly anticipated film Punjab 95 on Friday, delivering a powerful statement alongside it. Sharing the teaser on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Dosanjh wrote, "Full movie, no cuts," and added the hashtag #ChallengeTheDarkness. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is set to hit theatres on February 7.

The teaser opens with Arjun Rampal's character posing a haunting question: "Look at the history of Punjab, sir. Be it the dispute over its rivers or the operation Bluestar, Indira Gandhi's assassination or the riots of 1984, from President's rule to the chief minister's assassination and now… why is Punjab suffering?"

Punjab 95 tells the story of Sikh rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who courageously exposed over 25,000 cases of illegal killings, disappearances, and secret cremations carried out by Punjab Police. The film chronicles his fight for justice, culminating in his abduction, torture, and murder—crimes for which six police officials were later convicted.

Dosanjh takes centre stage as Khalra, investigating the disappearance of Sukhdev Singh. The teaser captures Khalra's unrelenting pursuit of truth as he gathers evidence, risking his own safety to uncover the grim reality behind Sukhdev's case.

As per The Indian Express, the film has faced significant hurdles, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) allegedly suggesting 120 cuts due to its sensitive subject matter. The film has been delayed for years, though a 2022 screening for Khalra's family reportedly received their approval.

On January 15, Dosanjh offered a glimpse into the film's intensity by sharing behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, showing him bruised and battered in his portrayal of Khalra.

Last year, the singer delighted his fans at London's O2 Arena which also featured the radiant Hania Aamir amongst the crowd. As evidenced by a viral clip circulating on social media platforms, the singer extended the actor an opportunity to climb up on stage and view the audience with him. Aamir gladly obliged, mounting the steps with Dosanjh by her side and happily greeting and thanking the audience.

The performer later posted highlights from the show to his Instagram handle - a carousel featuring the famed Pakistani actor. Aamir stood grinning brightly in a swarm of enthusiasts as she gazed up at the stage in awe, her palms pressed to her chest in wonder. The Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum star shared a reel from the concert on her Stories, tagging Dosanjh and remarking, "Magic."
