Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by the terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Sambaza area of the Zhob district of Balochistan, last night killing five terrorists, the ISPR said in a statement on Sunday.
"On night 18/19 January, movement of a group of khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate through Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in general area Sambaza, Zhob District," the ISPR, the media wing of the military said.
"Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate. Resultantly, five Khwarij were sent to hell," the statement added, referring to the term used for the terrorists, belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. The ISPR said that the Afghan government was expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by the TTP for committing terrorism in Pakistan.
The ISPR stated that security forces of Pakistan remained committed to secure the country's borders and eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.
President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their separate statements, commended the security forces for foiling the infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghan border. They appreciated the security forces for their timely and swift action against the terrorists.
"The valiant security forces of Pakistan are always prepared to protect the frontiers of the country," President Zardari said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement, said that the entire nation stood with the security forces in the war against terrorism.
