Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum chaired a full court meeting on Saturday that focused on establishing mechanisms for the expeditious disposal of pending cases at the LHC principal seat, benches in Multan, Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi, as well as in the district judiciary across Punjab.
According to a statement, several proposals were presented to expedite the resolution of older cases, reduce the backlog and formulate a comprehensive policy aimed at ensuring swift and quality justice. The objective is to provide citizens timely and effective justice, thereby strengthening public confidence in the judiciary.
According to a detailed report highlighting key judicial statistics presented in the meeting, over 3.8 million cases were resolved in the high court and district judiciary across the province during 2024.
It revealed that 148,453 new cases were filed at the LHC principal seat and benches during the year, while 144,122 cases were decided.
