Sindh govt to establish modern media university in Karachi

Initiative to be undertaken on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a modern media university in Karachi.

According to Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, the spokesperson for the Sindh government, the university will promote history and cultural heritage. The initiative will be undertaken on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Abdullah Baloch stated that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has instructed the Sindh chief minister to commence the project, which aims to highlight Sindh's historical and cultural legacy on a global scale.

The spokesperson further mentioned that the Sindh government plans to develop the institution to international standards for the promotion of media education, research, and innovation.

Highlighting past achievements, he noted that several projects under public-private partnerships have been successfully completed.

He added that the media university will be established under a public-private partnership model and will serve as a new hub for progress, creativity, and cultural pride for the people of Sindh.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh has directed the Education Department to develop province's first-ever Transgender Education Policy.

The govt spokesperson said that in the past the provincial government had approved job quota for transgender individuals under the Sindh Civil Servants Amendment Act that allows transgender community to secure government jobs, both on merit and through the reserved quota.

Earlier, an understanding was reached to establish a coordination mechanism to facilitate students from Sindh in pursuing medical and nursing education in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting between Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Kyrgyzstan Minister for Education & Science Dogdorkul Kendirbaeva also included discussions on increasing the number of students from Sindh studying in Kyrgyzstan.
