SZA and Keke Palmer team up in the hilarious and action-packed comedy One of Them Days, which hit theaters today, January 17.

Directed by Lawrence Lamont and produced by Issa Rae, the film is already earning rave reviews for its sharp humor, heartfelt storytelling, and standout performances.

Set in the Baldwin Village neighborhood of South Los Angeles, One of Them Days follows Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA), two roommates racing to recover their rent money after Alyssa’s boyfriend spends it on bootleg T-shirts. The comedic chaos that ensues features every get-rich-quick scheme imaginable, with gut-busting hijinks and relatable struggles.

Palmer, also an executive producer, brings her signature charm and ambition to the role of Dreux, a waitress determined to secure a better future. SZA, making her acting debut, shines as the free-spirited Alyssa. “Keke literally ushered me through,” SZA shares about her first film experience.

Producer Issa Rae knew the pairing would work, citing their instant chemistry. “Watching them together, we knew we had a movie,” she says. The film also features a talented supporting cast, including Janelle James, Katt Williams, and Vanessa Bell Calloway, alongside breakout performances by newcomers like Patrick Cage and Joshua Neal.

Drawing inspiration from the ‘90s cult classic Friday, One of Them Days blends laugh-out-loud moments with heartfelt explorations of friendship, resilience, and community. With SZA and Palmer leading the charge, this buddy comedy is a must-watch that promises lasting impact and perhaps a sequel.
