Paul Danan, the former Hollyoaks actor who portrayed Sol Patrick from 1997 to 2001, has passed away at 46, his management team confirmed.

Although the exact cause of his death has not been confirmed, the actor shared earlier this year his frightening experience with respiratory failure, which he attributed to his vaping addiction.

The management company, Independent Creative Management, expressed its sorrow, stating: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old."

"Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many."

Danan gained additional fame through his participation in Celebrity Love Island in 2005 and 2006, as well as Celebrity Big Brother in 2017.

The management company also remarked: "His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him."

"During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul's family, friends, and colleagues."

He had previously expressed interest in returning to Hollyoaks, though his last appearance was over 20 years ago when he left the village with Jess Holt.

In recent years, he launched the podcast *The Morning After With Paul Danan*, which ran from 2019 to 2023.

Danan's other credits included appearances on E4’s *Celebrity Coach Trip* and Channel 4's *The Kevin Bishop Show*.

He had spoken publicly about his health issues, including a serious episode that landed him in intensive care with pneumonia.

He told *The Sun on Sunday* that hospital staff advised him to quit smoking altogether. After quitting regular cigarettes, Danan mentioned he had become "obsessed" with disposable vapes.
