Bernie Sanders joins HasanAbi on Twitch, hails streamers as the future of media revolution

Senator Sanders praises Twitch's influence on modern media during his first live chat with HasanAbi.

United States Senator Bernie Sanders made his debut appearance on popular Twitch streamer HasanAbi's broadcast on January 14, 2025. This live interaction, the first between the two, has already captured widespread attention, with clips from the stream circulating virally across social media platforms.

HasanAbi, known for his socialist commentary and status as one of Twitch's leading political content creators, has long been an outspoken supporter of Sanders. 

During the broadcast, HasanAbi welcomed Sanders warmly via a Discord call, expressing his gratitude: "Bernie Sanders, thank you so much for everything you have done and also thank you for coming on the broadcast."

In response, Sanders praised HasanAbi’s contributions to modern media:
"Well, my pleasure to be with you, and thank you for what you are doing. You are part of a revolution in media today, which is talking to millions of people who are tuning out of legacy media, and thanks for what you are doing."

Their conversation touched on a range of topics, including Sanders's outreach programs for youth and the recent LA wildfires. At one point, the discussion turned lighthearted when HasanAbi, a known basketball enthusiast, suggested a match with the Senator in Vermont. Sanders replied:"Alright, you got it, come on!"

HasanAbi expressed hope for an in-person interview in the future, thanking the Senator for his time: "Thank you so much for coming on, Senator Sanders, like I said, you are an incredibly impactful person for many people in my community. And I am very fortunate that you wanted to come on, and hopefully, if I ever come to Vermont, we can have a much longer conversation as well."

This isn't Sanders's first foray into Twitch streams. He previously appeared alongside popular streamers Pokimane and Valkyrae ahead of the 2024 presidential election.  HasanAbi, on the other hand, has hosted Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez multiple times on his channel.
