Sindh announces measures to promote film, drama industry

Sharjeel Memon announced financial aid for new writers and production houses to complete projects.

The Sindh government has expedited its efforts to promote the film, drama, and documentary industries, Express News reported on Wednesday.

A meeting of the Content and Production Oversight Board, chaired by Senior Minister for Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, was held to discuss the promotion of local talent, increasing public awareness, and creating a narrative against extremism. The decision was made to encourage artists and playwrights in these areas.

Sharjeel Memon announced special measures for new writers and creative production houses, stating that financial assistance would be provided to help them complete their projects.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Information Secretary Nadeem ur Rehman Memon, DG PR Saleem Khan, and other senior officials, including board members Qazi Asad Abid, Warda Saleem, and Azan Sami Khan.

During the meeting, the DG PR briefed the members on the board's objectives and policy guidelines. The members presented their suggestions for promoting new talent and reviewing production house projects. It was decided that the basic outlines of projects from production houses will be requested at the next meeting.

Yesterday, Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasised the need to prioritise public safety and awareness, stating that road accidents claim lives and cause disabilities, highlighting the importance of serving humanity.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Consumer Road Safety Awards organised by the Consumer Association of Pakistan, he commended the initiative for its efforts to save lives and promote road safety.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday dubbed the Sindh government's private partnership (PPP) model "a successful economic framework" that could also strengthen the national economy.

Chairing a meeting at Bilawal House regarding PPP projects in Sindh, Bilawal emphasised that the Sindh government was enhancing the quality of life for citizens across various sectors, ranging from healthcare to infrastructure, through these innovative partnerships.

According to a statement issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP chairman received a briefing on various PPP projects to enhance infrastructure in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and electronic vehicle charging.
