Bilawal hails Sindh's successes in child healthcare

Says province's model outperforms all other provinces and Centre

KARACHI:

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Monday that the Sindh government's heath sector initiatives under a public-private partnership outperformed not only all the other provinces but also those undertaken by the federal government.

Speaking at a ceremony at Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, organised by the Dow University of Health Sciences, the PPP chairman lauded the Sindh government for its significant achievements in reducing child mortality rates.

The ceremony marked the release of a report by PALISI – a US-based health institute under the University of California, San Francisco – highlighting a significant reduction in child mortality rates at Sindh's public hospitals, said a statement issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House.

"Sindh's public-private partnership programme has outperformed all other provinces and the federal government," he said, reaffirming the PPP's commitment to providing free, world-class healthcare services to the people through revolutionary measures.

He congratulated the Sindh government, the provincial health department, and the ChildLife Foundation team, including doctors and staff, for their efforts. "It is a moment of pride that your hard work and success are now being recognised globally," he said.

The PPP chairman said that child mortality rates were improving across Pakistan, yet they remained alarmingly high and posed a challenge for all the provinces, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

Bilawal attributed Sindh's achievement to the 18th Constitutional Amendment and the provincial government's commitment to the public-private partnership model.
