The salaried class in Pakistan has emerged as the third-largest contributor to the national tax pool, with a 40% increase in tax collection during the fiscal year 2023-24.
According to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) documents, the salaried class contributed a staggering Rs368 billion in taxes during this period, marking an additional Rs103.74 billion compared to the Rs264.26 billion collected in the fiscal year 2022-23.
This reflects a notable 39.3% rise in tax collection from this segment within a year. Contracts, bank profits and securities topped the charts in tax contributions.
