An Indian School of Business (ISB) student in Hyderabad was left shocked and disappointed after being charged INR 525 for a dish at former India captain Virat Kohli's restaurant.

Sneha took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her experience after being charged INR 525 for a few slices of corn, or “bhutta,” at the popular restaurant. In her post, she shared a photo of the dish, which included some corn on the cob, a slice of lemon, and a dipping sauce garnished with scallions.

“Paid INR 525 for this today at One8 Commune,” Sneha captioned the post, which quickly went viral, garnering over 11,000 likes and sparking a wave of reactions from social media users.

The dish in question was named Peri Peri Corn Ribs on the restaurant’s menu. However, many felt the price was wildly disproportionate for such a simple dish.

The photo clearly showed just a few slices of corn, paired with basic condiments. Some users found the situation amusing, while others were quick to explain that the cost often includes more than just the food itself.

“You knew this before ordering, so stop crying,” wrote one user in the comments section.

“Money is for ambience, service & cleanliness. That comfy chair, good looking rich people around, nice crockery,” another pointed out, adding that you could easily get the same dish at a street cart for a fraction of the cost.

“You didn’t pay for this. You paid for the vibes,” a third person said.

“This is ubla hua bhutta that’s sold for ₹45,” joked one amused commenter, while another exclaimed, “Five hundred and twenty five rupees for a BHUTTA???”

While the post sparked a mixture of amusement and outrage, it also highlighted an interesting debate around the pricing at high-end restaurants.

Many users pointed out that at such venues, you’re not just paying for the food, but for the overall experience and ambiance.
