SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly has criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, accusing the couple of exploiting the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires for publicity.
On her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly called the pair “absolute cretins” and suggested their recent appearance in wildfire relief efforts was more about self-promotion than charity.
“They interjected themselves into the devastation in Los Angeles to get their faces back on camera,” Kelly claimed. “What they need is us? No, what they need is support, not a publicity stunt.”
Footage aired by Fox 11 Los Angeles showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex distributing food and hugging evacuees. However, Kelly dismissed their actions as “trauma porn” and pointed to a pattern of similar behavior. “She did the same thing after Uvalde,” Kelly said, referencing Markle’s visit to the Texas town after the school shooting in 2022.
Kelly also quoted actress Justine Bateman, who criticized the couple on social media, calling them “disaster tourists” and comparing their actions to “ambulance chasing.”
In her scathing remarks, Kelly urged the couple to focus on meaningful support. “If they really wanted to help, they could make a donation or support a GoFundMe,” she said. “They don’t need to inject themselves into the story.”
The Santa Barbara-based couple has not publicly responded to the criticism, but their wildfire relief efforts remain divisive, with some praising their involvement and others questioning their motives.
The backlash highlights the scrutiny that continues to follow the Sussexes, even as they distance themselves from royal duties.
