Khloé Kardashian has come under fire for criticizing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over her handling of the city’s wildfire response.
The reality star, 40, called Bass a “joke” on Instagram after Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley claimed budget cuts had hindered the department’s ability to combat the catastrophic fires.
“I stand by YOU Chief Crowley!” Kardashian wrote, sharing a clip of Crowley’s emotional interview. She accused Bass of failing to provide necessary funding for fire engine repairs and hydrant maintenance, which reportedly impacted the city's response to the Kenneth Fire and other blazes.
Critics were quick to push back, with many taking to social media to defend the mayor. Some accused Kardashian of hypocrisy, noting her silence on other political figures, while others highlighted her privileged status. “Khloé Kardashian has no room to criticize when her family exceeds water usage during droughts,” one commenter wrote, though reports later clarified that she was not involved in those violations.
Supporters of Kardashian praised her for speaking out, with one fan commenting, “She’s right—our city officials need to be held accountable.”
The Kardashian-Jenner family, including Kim, Kourtney, Kris, Kendall, Kylie, and Rob, were forced to evacuate their Calabasas and Hidden Hills homes due to the Kenneth Fire. Although evacuation orders have been lifted, it is unclear if they have returned.
The Palisades and Eaton fires have collectively scorched tens of thousands of acres, destroyed homes, and are expected to cause billions in damages. As tensions rise, Kardashian’s public criticism has reignited debates over accountability in handling California’s wildfire crisis.
