Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Shaukat Yusafzai has emphasised that the party is not engaging in talks due to any external pressure or fear.
He stated that the negotiations were taking place under the direction of PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, for the benefit of the country, Express news reported.
In a statement, Yusafzai responded to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, accusing him of spreading despair.
He criticised Asif's leadership, calling him "confused" and questioned how such a person could hold the position of Defence Minister.
Yusafzai also expressed that the current government’s constant anti-Imran Khan propaganda, especially from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister, has failed to sway public opinion.
He stated that when mran Khan tweets, the entire government reacts strongly, indicating the widespread impact of his statements.
Further dismissing claims that PTI might seek an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance), Yusufzai affirmed that Imran Khan would never opt for such a deal, labelling it a futile desire of the government. He contrasted mran Khan's stance with the alleged comfort of those who had accepted an NRO in the past.
Yusufzai stated that PTI is negotiating with an open heart, but after the failure of the All Parties Conference (APC), any suggestion for military or federal intervention is an overreach.
He also took a jab at the Sindh government, advising Khawaja Asif to focus on Karachi, which he described as "a city of ruins," struggling with basic infrastructure issues such as missing manhole covers.
On the economic front, Yusufzai rejected the government’s claims of stabilising the economy, arguing that political instability is preventing any genuine economic progress. He questioned why the public isn't seeing any relief despite claims of economic recovery.
