Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known as rapper NBA YoungBoy, is set to be released from prison in July 2025 after agreeing to a plea deal regarding a federal gun charge in Utah from the previous year.

Gaulden, who performs under the name YoungBoy Never Broke Again, began his music career in 2025, releasing six independent mixtapes over a two-year period before signing with Atlanta Records.

Over the years, he has encountered numerous legal issues, including a firearm-related aggravated assault in Louisiana and attempting to pose as a doctor to acquire prescription painkillers. His plea agreement from last year aimed to address both of these matters.

After extensive legal negotiations, the Louisiana-born rapper reached a settlement that resolved many of the charges against him. The agreement, which was finalized in September 2024, involved Gaulden admitting to possessing multiple firearms while shooting a rap video in Baton Rouge.

Originally, the plea resulted in a sentence of 23 months in prison, five years of probation, and a $200,000 fine. However, that has since been updated with new details. Gaulden also agreed to surrender the firearms, which included a Glock 21 .45-caliber pistol and a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun.

Gaulden is now scheduled for release on July 27, 2025, a date that is earlier than expected based on the original deal. The revised sentence seems to account for time served up until May 2024.

Fans discovered this information by searching for details about his incarceration, which listed his release date as July.
