In the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), two former national team captains, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik, have been included in the Diamond category of players.
Recently, all six PSL franchises announced the players they had retained for the 10th edition of the event. Quetta Gladiators retained eight players, but Sarfaraz Ahmed's name, who had led the team to a championship victory, was notably absent.
After nine years, the Gladiators decided to release Sarfaraz Ahmed, making him eligible for the draft, which will be his first since the inaugural PSL edition in 2016.
On the other hand, all-rounder Shoaib Malik made a public announcement on social media about parting ways with his former franchise, Karachi Kings, a team he joined in 2020 and played with for four seasons.
Apart from Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik, other players included in the PSL 10 Diamond category are Mohammad Nawaz, Aamir Jamal, Abbas Afridi, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Mohammad Hasnain.
The Diamond category also features international players from countries such as Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe, along with associate nations' players.
