Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, with a focus on industrialisation, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), clean energy, agriculture, and livelihood projects.

The pledge came during the fifth meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong.

The meeting recognised CPEC's pivotal role in promoting regional connectivity, win-win cooperation, and shared prosperity. Officials also discussed expanding partnerships with other countries to further these goals.

Both sides expressed their resolve to deepen collaboration in media, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people linkages. They highlighted the importance of accelerating the establishment of a "China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future in the New Era."

Foreign Secretary Baloch described CPEC as “the cornerstone of China-Pakistan economic cooperation” and a “shining symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries.”

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong emphasised the interconnected nature of the five corridors introduced under CPEC 2.0: the growth, livelihood, innovation, open, and green corridors. He noted their alignment with Pakistan’s national development framework, which prioritises five key areas: Exports, E-Pakistan, Energy, Environment, and Equity.

The two sides reiterated their shared vision for the high-quality implementation of CPEC projects, aimed at fostering long-term economic benefits and enhancing regional stability.
