Candace Owens responds to Emmanuel Macron’s legal threat after claiming his wife is transgender

Owens vows to publish Emmanuel Macron’s legal letter after facing threats over claims that Brigitte was born a man.

Right-wing political commentator Candace Owens has ignited controversy with her response to a legal letter from French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte. 

The letter, sent in reaction to Owens’ claims that Brigitte Macron was born a man, has sparked a public back-and-forth between Owens and the French leaders. Owens, in turn, has issued a defiant statement, accusing Macron of trying to silence her under the guise of a legal threat.

On Friday, Owens posted a lengthy response on X (formerly Twitter), making it clear that she would not be intimidated. "I will not be bullied into silence," Owens wrote. "You don’t have the right to stop me from exercising my freedom of speech, Mr. Macron." She also accused the French president of using legal threats to halt her investigation into Brigitte Macron's past, which has drawn widespread attention due to the contentious theory that Brigitte was born a man.

Owens elaborated on her investigation, explaining that in mid-November, she reached out to a journalist who claimed to have evidence supporting the theory. She went on to describe her December trip to Europe, where she spent over two hours interviewing the journalist and reviewing the evidence. Owens noted that just ten days after her initial contact, she received a legal threat from the Macrons. "We believe this letter was sent to intimidate us, ultimately to prevent the publication of a piece set to premiere on January 30th," Owens asserted.

Owens has since vowed to publicly release the legal letter, which she believes was intended to suppress her reporting. She also tagged several prominent figures in her post, including Tucker Carlson, Andrew Tate, and Alex Jones, suggesting a broad network of support as she continues to fight back.

In a recent YouTube video, Owens doubled down on her allegations, referring to Brigitte Macron as "mister" and further criticizing the legal action. “You see, Mr. Macron — both Misters — in my world, I bank on the people. I always bank on the regular people. You have no idea the army of people we can unleash,” Owens said. She also addressed a section of the legal letter that stated Brigitte Macron "does not owe you proof that she is and always has been a woman." 

Owens responded by questioning the integrity of the Macron family’s position, saying, "If I’m the president and I’m dealing with a ten-year issue about people questioning my wife, I sure as hell am not paying lawyers to send legal letters saying ‘I’m not going to answer your question.’"

One part of the letter claimed that Brigitte Macron's denial of the accusations was sufficient proof of their falsity. Owens scoffed at the assertion, remarking, “So now, in the court of law, if I say no, you have to accept it as the truth? It’s basically, ‘trust me, bro.’”

Owens wrapped up her video by stating that the legal communication now gives her a direct line to the Macron family. She made it clear that she would use this opportunity to press them with pointed questions, saying, “Now that I have a direct line to the Macrons, I’ll be asking them the questions they clearly want to avoid.”

The political commentator also revisited the details of the Macrons’ relationship, including the 39-year age gap between Emmanuel (46) and Brigitte (70), who was his drama teacher when he was just 15. Owens questioned the appropriateness of the relationship, pointing to the significant age difference and its controversial nature.
