"This flower display symbolises our vision to make Karachi a city of greenery and harmony, where both plants and people thrive together," said City Mayor Murtaza Wahab while attending the 5th Annual Flower Show organised by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) at Frere Hall on Friday.
He lavishly praised KMC's Parks and Horticulture Department for its efforts in organising the event, which features over 100,000 marigolds and petunias on display. "Karachi may not be known for its flowers, but we are working to change that narrative and transform this city into a place of beauty and greenery," the mayor said.
Deputy Mayor, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, and Director General Parks Akhlaq Khan Yousafzai were among those present at the show.
The mayor urged citizens to visit the flower show with their families, highlighting its dual purpose of showcasing Karachi's beauty and raising awareness about the importance of caring for plants and trees.
On the occasion, the city mayor also announced plans to initiate legal action against officials of Town Municipal Corporations (TMC) in District Central for allowing unauthorised road cutting.
