Actor Mel Gibson proclaimed that "the end of civilization" is imminent on Joe Rogan's podcast as wildfires in L.A rage on.

"I would be surprised if my home is still there," Gibson said while appearing on Thursday's episode of The Joe Rogan Experience where he suggested that civilization is nearing its end. "I've got a son, he's a sort of volunteer firefighter. He sent me a video of my neighborhood," he stated. "And it's in flames. It looks like an inferno".

According to Rogan who endorsed President-elect Donal Trump before the elections last year, the widespread destruction of the state was Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom's fault. Gibson, who also holds conservative values, agreed with Rogan going as far as to suggest that civilization was going to "cave in and collapse."

"I read a book once by Jared Diamond called Collapse," Gibson said. "It says all the things you need for a civilization to cave in and collapse. And a lot of those things are present, all those earmarks, the precursors of a collapse. They're present in our time. So, it's an interesting observation."

With regard to the wildfires, Governor Gavin Newsom posted on X about the deployment of addtional national Guard member to contain the fires and exoressed gratitude for "Our men and women who are willing to jump in and help fight these unprecedented wildfires. We will forever be in your debt."

Due to the ongoing fires in California, five people have died while thousands face evacuation orders.
